The Principals

Barbara "Bobbi" Lambert, PhD. in Human Behavior/ Psychology and co-founder of Confidante, Inc., a San Francisco based human resources consulting company that specializes in preventing and managing disruptive workplace behavior. Since 1980, Dr. Lambert has worked with employers interested in the on-site management of individual performance and interpersonal problems, organizational change, stress, trauma, and violence. She has successfully mediated and resolved complex interpersonal and business conflicts to avoid critical incidents and costly litigation. She spent seven years as the National Director of Training, Education and Consultation at U.S. Behavioral Health (now United Behavioral Health), one of the largest providers of Employee Assistance, Substance Abuse, and Managed Mental Health Programs.


Dr. Lambert has extensive experience in the fields of workplace behavior, human resources hiring and management, training, coaching and organizational development. She specializes in providing intervention services in difficult and emotional situations that include conflict management and resolution, workplace investigations and assessments, expert witness testimony, critical incident debriefings, behavioral interviewing, executive coaching and anger management, group facilitation and interpersonal skill development.


Dr. Lambert, as the primary intervention expert, led a team of crisis management specialists in response to the July 1, 1993 shooting incident at the law firm of Pettit & Martin, in San Francisco. In this incident, a disgruntled ex-client of Pettit & Martin entered their 101 California Street offices killing 8 people and injuring many more. In addition to leading many group and individual debriefing sessions, Dr. Lambert advised the managing partners on all critical areas of concern, including media, client, and employee relations, and organizational adjustments required as a result of this event.

As a respected lecturer and author, Dr. Lambert has been a presenter at conferences on topics including: A View From the Trenches of Workplace Violence, Navigating the Tricky Waters of Workplace Investigations, Prevention & Resolution of "Hostile Workplace" Situations, Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, Turning Organizational Crisis into Productive Outcomes, Mental Health at Work, Managed Care and Workers Compensation, Stress and Trauma in the Workplace, Chemical Dependency in the Workplace, and Violence in the Workplace.

In September, 2008, Dr. Lamber will co-present with Paul Finkle, CMC SPHR, at the NCHRA 24th Annual HR West Conference in Oakland, California. Their talk is entitled, "How to Attract Talent While Bolting the Backdoor."

Her articles and interviews have been published in Business Week, Travel Counselor Magazine, Employee Assistance Magazine, Workforce Magazine, the Bureau of National Affairs, and the Workplace Violence and Behavior News Letter. Dr. Lambert has also co-authored a report titled "Mandating Psychological valuation for Employees" published by the National Safe Workplace Institute.

Norm Plummer, Esq. is a co-founder of Confidante, Inc. and an Attorney with extensive corporate, labor and employment, and workers' compensation experience. His legal background assures that employers' and employees' rights are considered, reducing potential legal liability. He has provided loss prevention counsel for major business liability and workers' compensation insurance carriers, as well as private organizations. He has assisted many organizations create safer and more productive work environments.

Mr. Plummer leads the Confidante programs which provide workplace and employment related investigative, case preparation and litigation avoidance services to Confidante's attorney and business clients. He has conducted numerous third-party workplace investigations and assisted employers and their counsel with development of strategies for resolution of human resources issues, including discrimination, harassment, threats and violence.

Mr. Plummer's experience has allowed him to develop expertise and insights into the personalities and problems that contribute to disharmonious, non-productive and unsafe work places. He has applied his knowledge and experience to the development of methods for preventing, defusing, and resolving problematic employment-related situations for clients and their counsel. He also provides Executive Coaching to modify behavior to avoid claims of harassment, discrimination and threats.

Mr. Plummer is also an experienced entrepreneur and legal professional. He founded successful San Francisco and Marin County California law firms specializing in insurance subrogation and early resolution of general liability litigation. He has founded and served as President and Director of two California health care related corporations, a national group-purchasing company, and two alternative-site health care software companies. He has also served as Vice President of Administration and General Counsel for a publicly traded Internet-based healthcare software company. In this role, he developed and proved highly successful hiring and human resources management systems, training programs, grievance and complaint response policies, and conflict resolution procedures.
